My Finance App of Choice!

Too many popup are ruining an otherwise good app

A popup ad appears almost every time I turn a page. Ridiculous! I love BusinessWeek and the app works well. However recently they changed the way ads appear. Ads used to appear as pages that you flipped through like the other pages in the magazine. Recently they changed the app so that a popup ad covers the entire screen nearly every time you flip a page. The button to dismiss the ad is tiny and often I end up launching the ad link when I mean to close the ad. It would be one thing to if this were a free magazine, but I am paying money to read this and the ads are so intrusive and annoying that I sometimes stop reading out of frustration. Hate hate hate hate hate the constant intrusive pop up ads.

Very convenient navigation on an iPad

I like the design of the app and prefer to read on line rather than the print edition, which I also receive. Pop-up ads are a nuisance but the cancel button is always in the same place, making it easy to return to the content without losing my train of thought

Constant ad popups, poor user experience

Ive been a long time user, and in the past this hasnt been an issue. User experience is infuriating now that an ad pops up when you flip to each and every new article. How could BW not have done UX testing on this? Thank you for making me do extra work to X out the ad every time I want to read a new article. There has to be a better way.

Interesting but...

App. Needs Improvements.

Great

Great info. It makes a good companion to The Economist

Ads pop up every time I go to a new article

Would give 5 stars, but almost every time I move to a new article an ad pops up. The ad has a tiny "x" to close it. When I try to click the "x" I often accidentally click on the ad and have to then close the ad as well. The app did not use to do this. Really annoying for a paid subscriber. I dont mind the ads between articles that are not pop ups.

cannot share articles for some time now

I cannot share articles on Facebook or email direct from the BusinessWeek app. I am a print subscriber and logged in, but it doesn’t work. In fact, when I tried to share on Facebook, it caused the phone to continuously loop from the BW app to the Facebook app. This is aberrant behavior that should be reported to Apple if there is not a commitment to either remove or repair this feature of the BW app. I am running the latest app on iOS 9.0.1 on an iPhone 6. Trying to ‘share’ an article via email leads to a null URL. I reported this issue directly to BW in the past and it still does not work. NOTE: the support link doesn’t work!

Cancelled it ... After years of using the app.

Pop up ads put me over the edge. Playing cat and mouse with your paying customer is just horrendous. Liked the ads between sections. Used to read them too. Now I am jarred out of my reading to hit the X as fast as I can. How can they continue to do this? Dont they read these comments?

Really annoying pop-up ads

As mentioned in other reviews, before I would have given it 4-5 stars, but now these constant pop-up adds are getting me crazy!

Stop popping ads with every article

Great stuff and I have no problem with the little ads in the articles. I sometime spend a few seconds at them. The full screen ads between the articles that take time to load via the internet are annoying.

Poor design and execution

What a great print magazine with a confusing digital design and annoying pop ads. Instead the publication should have designed the digital edition more than Time magazine.

Mandatory update adds pop up ads

The new mandatory update adds frequent popup ads. They are so annoying that Ive cancelled my subscription.

Missed the video intro

Thanks do much for bringing back the video disloyal on the development of the cover and overview of the issue.

Annoying pop up ads

This used to be my standard for magazine apps but ever since they implemented the pop up ads in nearly every article, I find myself reaching out for the paper copy. To add insult to injury, its usually the same ad that greets you in every article, like that irritating mosquito that buzzes you in the face. The ad has your attention, but in the worse way. I still like this apps navigation system. Its still one of the few that gets it. I simply wonder about the breathtaking disconnect is on the pop up ads, as if someone was trying to sabotage the app.

Ux fail

This is an awful update that cripples ux. the digital copy is the only reason Ive kept my subscription the past two years. This update has ruined my ability to read this magazine and I plan to cancel subscription.

Horrible experience

With the AGGRESSIVE pop-up ad implementation in this version, BusinessWeak (intentional) has shown complete disregard for their customers experience. Rather than just at time of navigation, now even as you are reading an article, suddenly the page is taken over by an ad. As others have mentioned, seem to get the same ad repeatedly.

Bloomberg Desperate for Ad Revenue

Dont buy an online subscription. Youll be FORCED to close one or two pop-up ads at the beginning of EVERY article. Some ads cant be closed without closing the issue and re-opening it. I will NOT renew my subscription. WHY WOULD I PAY TO BE ANNOYED! In fact Ive stopped reading it. Instead I read Bloomberg.com where my pop-up blocker works.

Terrific App

All the right features to read on my iPad. Readability is fine, download is fast, navigation is intuitive, east to access back issues. Would never go back to print.

Pre os8 not operable

I have an ipad 2 and this app no longer allows me to read Business Week. I continuously get the message update required. I tried to load the old app that was available but the update required message keeps coming up. This seems to be an old fashioned catch 22.
